On the hill above Plainview Church between Plum Orchard and Belgrove
Directions: from Ripley, take I77 south to the Kenna/Kentuck exit. Turn left and make a left almost immediately on the road opposite the gas station. The road is paved and it is 3-4 miles to the cemetery. It is on top of a hill and the road up to it also serves as the driveway for a house. If a vehicle is in the way, just ask and they will move it. If you pass the Plainview Church on the left, you've gone too far.
My brother, Marvin Robie, and I last visited the cemetery and photographed and mapped all the markers on May 11, 2006, a rainy and windy day. It is fenced and well tended although the trees have been taken out. Although the cemetery rows are rather uneven, we have attempted to notate the markers in rows, starting with the left side of the row when you first enter the gate. Photos were taken of all markers and are provided by Betty Briggs
I am very grateful to the Jackson County Historical Society (JCHS) for the transcription of this cemetery in a much earlier time when the stones were not so eroded. My comments are in brackets [ ] and include information from my own database, available at West Virginia Pioneers .
