The Bibbees are an old and established family in Jackson county, settling first at Millwood about 100 years ago. The Bibbees are of German descent, fine farmers and solid pillars of their separate communities. On her mother's side, Mrs Barton descended from John Bonnett, a victim of the religious persecutions in France some 200 years ago. The Bonnetts first went to Holland, then, like many others of their fate, embarked for America. Coming first to Philadelphia where the immigrant Bonnetts are buried. The descendants came into West Virginia, first to Harrison County, then William Bonnett Sr, became an early settler in Jackson County. Through various marriages of the Bibbees and Bonnetts, Mrs Barton was related to the Parsons, Castos, Harpolds, Browns and Van Dynes. So she leaves many relatives in Jackson County and the state. In 1924 she married Charles W Ball of Barboursville at Ripley and they went to Akron, Ohio to live and work, coming back to the Jackson County farm to weather out the depression. They were living in Chesapeake, West Virginia, and Mr Ball was working at Belle when he died suddenly in 1948. Mrs Ball's health failed and doctors advised her to leave the Kanawha valley. She sold out going to live with a sister in Long Beach where she met and married George Barton, a retired railroad man. He survives her. Mrs Adams Keller Jr of Charleston is a cousin. | 739 | Dr. G. W. CARTER Word was received here this morning of the death in a hospital at Baltimore of Dr. G. W. CARTER of Reedy, Roane County, which occurred at 2 o'clock this morning. Dr. CARTER having been taken there for treatment. The remains will arrive on the noon train from the east and will be taken through to Reedy over the O. R. and will be accompained from here by Mr. and Mrs. Hugh F. SAYRE and J. S. BROWN, the latter being a close personal friend. The funeral services will be held at Letart. Dr. CARTER was one of the most prominent residents of that section of the state, and had been in active practice of his profession for 32 years. He is survived by his wife, who, before marriage, was Miss SAYRE, a sister of Hugh F. SAYRE of this city. He was a staunch member of the M. E. Church, South, a pillar in the church, and one of the most splendid citizens of the county. He had numerous friends there and elsewhere who were grieved to learn of his death. He was born July 10, 1925, in Mount Alto, the son of the late Daniel Hobart and Chloe Beatrice Click. He was a graduate of Union High School, Cottageville, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was co-owner, operator and retired from Click Brothers Quaker State Service Station in Mount Alto. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, and attended Guiding Star Christian Advent Church, Letart. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ada Lee (Hannum) Click. Survivors include his son, David Elmer Click, of Mount Alto; daughter Penny Lee Thaxton and her husband, George, of Cottageville; brother Delmer Click of Mount Alto; three grandsons Kyle Thaxton, Kevin Thaxton, and Kurtis Thaxton; and one great-granddaughter Pamela Lee Thaxton. Graveside service, with full military honors, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Hopewell Cemetery, Mount Alto, with the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating.
