Mr. Carl E. Thornton Sr., 66, of Buffalo went home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2007, in Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness.
Mr. Thornton was retired from the Laborers Local 1353 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Myrtle Thornton; and three brothers, George F., Dencil R., and Daniel L. Thornton.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; stepdaughter, Melissa Snyder; sons, Carl E. Thornton Jr. and his wife, Christy, Kenneth Thornton and his wife, Lori, and Chris Thornton; sister, Nancy Craig of Robertsburg; brother, Paul R. Thornton of Willoughby Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Shane and Kristen Snyder, Hannah Thornton, Jacob Thornton, Rachel Thornton, Madison Thornton and Mason Thornton.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 5, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, with the Rev. Willard Beller officiating. Graveside services will follow in West Virginia National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
