Janice Carol Harpold, 63, Ripley, passed away September 24, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital following an extended illness, surrounded by her entire loving family.
She was born November 11, 1949, the daughter of the late Asa and Dorothy McClain Harpold of Gay. Janice was a Ripley High School graduate with the class of 1967. She was a longtime and dedicated member of Local 5668 and very proud to be a Woman of Steel. She fought tirelessly for Union rights and a fair and equal workplace. Most recently Janice was an organizer for the International Union.
In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dottie Lou Harpold of Gay.
Nothing made Janice happier than to be surrounded by her grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them. They were her most precious treasures in life.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 30, at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with burial and graveside rites to follow at Harpold Cemetery, Gay. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Janice Carol Harpold Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Jackson County Community Foundation.
