Charles Elton Legg
Charles Elton Legg, 72, of Charleston died June 6, 2010, at Hubbard Hospice House after a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 2, 1938, to Nellie Legg Skeen and the late William Roscoe Legg. He was a 1958 graduate of Charleston High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines. While in the Marines, he was an attaché to Admiral Brown in Naples, Italy, obtaining the distinguished honor of Marine of the Year. Charlie retired in management from Tri State Roofing.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara Fisher Legg; and his three children, Lisa Wolfe and husband Tim of Charleston, Lara Canter and husband Michael of Kenna, and Todd Legg and wife Kim of Charleston. He was a proud and dedicated papaw to Kaylee and Hannah Wolfe, Laci and Gage Canter, Kasidi and Kory Legg; and step-grandchildren, Nick and Seth Canter.
A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Stevens and Grass Funeral Home in Malden with the Rev. Ed Tutwiler and the Rev. Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Hospice for their wonderful kindness and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Charles Legg's name to Hospice Care or Hubbard Hospice House.
