James Aubrey Johnson
RIPLEY - James Aubrey Johnson, 91, of Ripley, W.Va., formerly of Sissonville, passed away March 26, 2004, at home following a short illness.
He was born Nov. 14, 1912, at Second Creek, Jackson County, to the late Loren S. and Almedia Jones Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ada M. Johnson and two grandsons, Michael L. Shamblin and James D. Johnson.
He was retired from Blackrock Contracting and was a member and past elder of Victory Primitive Advent Church, Sissonville.
Survivors include sons and their wives, Hobert and Janet Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., and Larry and Debbie Johnson of Ripley; six daughters and their husbands, Betty and Raymond Ray, Sue and Jim Smith, Patty and Rick Taylor, Marble and Melvin Smith, all of Sissonville, Frankie and Gene Shamblin of Fairplain, W.Va., and June and Bill Albright of Shelby, N.C.; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; three sisters, Nellie Skeen of Charleston, Maxine Keffer of Spencer and Phyllis Griffith of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Carl Johnson of Charleston and Fred Johnson of Wilmington, N.C.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, at Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. Don Young officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Long and Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville is in charge of the arrangements.
