John Corey, 75, Dies Monday At Local Hospital
A resident of Canon City for 25 years, John Oliver Corey, 75, died at a local hospital early Monday evening a short time after bing [sic] stricken with hemorrhage of the lungs.
He was rushed to the hospital after his condition became serious but sank rapidly. Mr. Corey, father of Thad Corey, Canon City dairyman, had been in failing health for some time but his condition had not been considered serious until Monday evening.
He was born in Washington county, Ohio on December 7, 1860 [sic]. He came to Fremont county a quarter of a century ago and practically all of that time operated a ranch on East Main street, East Canon. He was well known throughout this section.
In addition to his son here, Mr.Corey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Blanche Corey; a son, Robert M. Corey of Wheeling, Va. [sic]; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hazelett [sic] of New York, and a step-son [sic], Thomas Orville, of Canon City.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Canon mortuary.

Funeral Services Held Wednesday of John Corey
Funeral services for John Oliver Corey, long-time resident of East Canon, who died this week, were held at the service room of the Canon mortuary at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The Rev. J.W. Wells, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiated. The Canon mortuary soloist sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "No Night There." Miss Bessie McQuown accompanied at the organ.
Casketbearers were A.T. Towler, D.P. Van Buskirk, Chester Long, Maynard Norvell, James Badles, and L.W. Felter. Interment was in Lakeside cemetery.
