Jackson, Joseph and James were triplets, born May 30, 1830. Fighting for the Union, both Jackson and Joseph were in the third Regiment of the Virginia Calvary during the Civil War. While a prisioner of war, Joseph died in the Second Division Rebel Hospital, Danville, VA, on Nov 5, 1864. Jackson survived the war and died in Jackson County on Feb 4, 1910. Oral tradition says that James was also in the Civil War, but no record of this has been found. The last official record referring to James was dated 1851.
