Would respectfully inform his old customers and the public generally that he has again taken possession of this well-known establishment and would be glad to entertain his friends and customers. He has determined to apply himself closely to his business and will give prompt attention to all who may favor him with their patronage. His bar will at all times be furnished with the best imported and domestic Liquors. Also a stock of choice Cigars and Tobacco.
A two-horse hack will always be ready to convey passengers to any point of destination. Terms modest and to suit the times.

Maguire Family
Another family worthy of mention, which was conspicuous in the history of Ripley, at a later period is that of Maguire. Three Maguire brothers, Robert, Edward, and William came from Steubenville, Ohio.
Robert Maguire, who was killed at Ripley, and Samuel Maguire, who built the splendid residence beyond the Sycamore bridge, were sons of Edward.
William Maguire did not remain in Jackson County, but went south later.
A sister of the Maguire brothers married a Connoly and lived a mile out on the Sycamore road.
