WWII Military Service News
Pvt. Harold F. McGrew of Sandyville, and Pvt. Okay L. Casto, of Staats Mills, have been transferred from Camp Attenbury, Indiana to Camp Blending, Florida, and Pvt. Leo D. Randolph, of Ripley, to the Army Air Base at Amarillo, Texas, the Army announced this week. (Friday, Sept 29, 1944).

A funeral service celebrating the life of Leo Doyle Randolph, 86, of Heath, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with the Rev. Curtis Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Violet Cemetery, Pickerington.
Leo passed away Aug. 18, 2007, at his home with his family by his side. He was born March 21, 1921, in Jackson County, W.Va., to the late William A. and Maggie (Miller) Randolph. He retired from Chessie System as a railroad bridge supervisor.
During World War II, Leo served his country in the U.S. Army infantry.
Leo was a member of the Railroad Retirees. He enjoyed gardening and was an excellent finish carpenter. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix.
Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Don Cole, of Reynoldsburg, Willadene and James Medley, of Newark, Carolyn Tavenner, of Hebron and Wilma Lee and Michael Abbruzzi, of Birchtree, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his dearest companion, Doris Brown.
In addition to his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Velva (Redman) Randolph; one daughter, Glenna Chapman; five brothers; and five sisters.
His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville. An online guest register is available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com.
