  Notes	Stephen Taylor Stepehn Taylor was born August 8, 1878. Departed this life Aug 24, 1929. Aged 56 years and 22 days. Was the son of William P. and Nancy E. Taylor He was convereted at the age of 20 and lived a consistent and upright life. Joined the Mr. Moriah Baptist church and was baptized by Rev. Jonathan Smith. He was united in marriage to Hettie Cunningham November 5, 1893. To this union there has been born ten children, namely: Mrs. Ivy Summers, Mrs. O. J. Harper, Mrs. Raleigh Reed, Mrs, Walter Jones, Dewey Taylor, Neal Taylor, Earl Taylor, Rex Taylor and Ray and Murray Taylor The following brother and sister still survive: J. J. Taylor of Spencer, Edward and Wood Taylor of Elk view, Albert Taylor of Walton, Lucinda Mahan of Walton, and Mattie Payne of Dunbar. All his brothers and sisters were present at the funeral except J. E. Taylor, his oldest brother who disappeared 30 years ago and his where about are unknown. Funeral and burial services were held at Mt. Moriah, August 26, Rev Cater Cunningham cnducted the funeral service and the Masons taking charge of the interment. The way Mr. Taylor was held in esteem was shown by the many friends that attended the funeral from 1200 to 1500 people being present. Mr. Taylor as a man was always devoted and loyal to friends and his home. He was always interested in better communities, better roads, better schools and improvements in every way. Roane Co. can ill afford to lose such men as Stephen Taylor J. Herby Smith From D Lytton: Committed suicide, hung himself on the rafters of the barn near Walton WV, he had been despondent and in ill health for some time.
