Earlen Lawton Harris Sr., 92, of Harmony, died Saturday, June 6, 1992, at Roane General Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born at Vicars, a son of the late Enoch and Mary Jane Hunt Harris. He was an Army veteran and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Wolfe Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elsie Rhodes Harris; four daughters, Fay Hammon of Given, Jeanette Anderson and Myrtle Taylor, both of Gandeeville, and Mary Anderson of Harmony; two sons, Jack of Harmony and Earlen L. Jr. of Spencer; one brother, Thomas of Harmony; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dollie G. West; two sons, Pete and Raymond; three sisters, Stella West, Edna West and Ollie Cox; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Services were held Tuesday at Sinnett-Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Otho West officiating. Burial was in Ferrell Cemetery, Vicars Ridge.
