      Dear Brother

I take my pen in hand this beautiful afternoon to write you a few lines to you but to tell you the sad news that Mother is dead and died the 4th day of this month. She has been helpless ever since the 23 of March she didnt suffer much though until the last few days the night before she died I think she was concious that she was going to die for she said farewell Sophronia and the night she died she said farewell to Jonas and Sophronia. Rachel stayed about a week with her. The funeral was at the house a large crowd was there we had the hearse from Middleport the coffin was thirty one dollars and her robe five dollars the funeral text was the 7 chapter and 14 verse of Revelations. Aunt Eliza & Uncle Ben says they dont think there can be fault found whatever about the way Mother was buried.
