Wanda C. Vicari
Wanda C. Vicari, 61, of East Palatka, Fla., died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Roberts Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
A native of Rupert, W.Va., she moved to Putnam County, Fla., 18 years ago from Maryland, living first in Bostwick and later in East Palatka. Prior to moving to Putnam County, she had worked as a computer operator with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company. While in Putnam County, she worked at Shands Hospital, Gainesville, Fla., and later with Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. Wanda was a member of the Communications Workers of America, the Women of Moose Lodge 184, the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 10164, Interlachen, Fla. and the Fleet Reserve, Jacksonville, Fla., and had also served as president of the local AARP. She was also a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Clyde "C.J." Starke Jr.; her father, Clyde Casto; and her husband, Vincent Vicari.
She is survived by her mother, Hazel Casto of Palatka; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Stark of East Palatka; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Jeffrey Weiss of Silver Spring, Md.; a stepdaughter, Andrea Payer of Homestead, Fla.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Pat Casto and Bobby and Jean Kay Casto, all of Palatka; four grandchildren, Angel Stark, William Stark, Jacob Weiss and Hope Weiss; and her second mom and family, Juanita Curd, Arnold Curd and Carol Mutter.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, with the Rev. L.D. Osteen officiating. The Women of Moose Lodge 184 and the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 10164 will also conduct their respective rites.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 12502 N Pine Drive, Tampa, FL 33612-9499; the Putnam County Humane Society, 112 Norma St., Hollister, FL 32147; or the Roberts Hospice Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka FL 32177.
Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, is in charge of arrangements.
