Vergil M. Rhodes, 81, of Ripley, died Saturday in the home of a son, Everett C. Rhodes of Ripley, with whom he made his home, after a long illness.
He was a retired farmer and had spent his entire life in Jackson County.
Also surviving is another son, John O. Rhodes of Ripley; three brothers, Abe of Letart, Lawn of Huntington and Edgar Rhodes of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. Effie Smith of Bartlett, Ohio.
The body is at Parsons Funeral Home in Ripley.
