    • Isaiah T. PARSONS

      Isaiah T. PARSONS, brother of the late J. W. PARSONS, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. E. HERTZE on Route 1, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 1914, aged 74 years, of paralysis. He was born in this county, but moved West several years ago, residing there until his health failed two years ago when he returned to West Virginia. Mr. PARSONS was well educated, a brilliant orator, took an active part in politics and stumped the county in behalf of the temperance cause in the last campaign. He was a member of the Christian Church. Deceased is survived by one son, his sister, and a host of friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Sand Creek Baptist Cemetery.       John House:
      George Parsons died about 1838. His wife was Sarah Lyons . . . Another son, Charles Parsons, was the father of J. W. Parsons, some time assessor of the first District, and Isaiah Parsons a former County Superintendent. Charles Parsons lived on the home place, some say. His sister, Mrs. Rhodes said he moved to Charleston.

      Isiah P. PARSONS - was born March 22, 1850, on Trace fork of Sand creek, Ravenswood district, Jackson county, a son of Charles and Eliza J. (Sands) Parsons. His father is one of the substantial men of Jackson county, and highly esteemed here. During the war between the States, Charles Parsons served as a member of Capt. George S. Kennedy's State scouts. William and Irene (Mitchell) Huffman are the parents of Margaret A., wife of Isiah P. Parsons. She was born in 1850, in what is now Barbour county, West Virginia, and the Rev. D. Warren officiated at the marriage rite when she was joined in wedlock with the subject of this sketch, in Jackson county. June 26, 1879, was the date of the marriage, and it has been blessed with one son, Chester J., born September 7, 1880. Educated for a teacher, Mr. Parsons alternates the duties of that profession with the labors of farm life. He is also at this time serving as a notary public. Ravenswood, Jackson county, West Virginia, is his address.
