    • Pioneer History of Meigs Co, OH to 1949:
      Elizabeth Willoughby was the daughter of Captain Thomas Willoughby, Lower Norfolk co, VA. He is said to have been born in England. 1629-1632, member of House of Burgesses, 1644-46, member of Governor's Council. Large tracts of land in Lower Norfolk pateneted to him. He sent his only son, Col. Thomas W., born Dec 25, 1632, to the famous Merchant Tailor's School, London, where he was entered in 1644 as only son of Thomas Willoughby of VA, merchant. In a patent to Capt. Thomas Willoughby, 1654, Thomas, Alice, adn Elizabeth W. are named among the headrights. He died in England in 1658 when administration of his estate was granted to his son, Thomas.

    • Pioneer History of Meigs Co, OH to 1949:
      Isaac Allerton II married (2) Mrs. Elizabeth (Willoughby) Colclough probably in 1663 in either VA or MD.
      Isaac Allerton II was born in Plymouth about 1630. On the death of his mother and the permanent removal of his father from the colony, he was left with his grandfather, Elder Williaim Brewster, who reared and educated him. On graduating from Harvard College, 1650, he joined his father at New Amsterdam and engaged in business with him there and at New Haven and in Virginia.
