Fred L. Rardin, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Tuesday, June 4, while residing at Walnut Hill Nursing Home.
Born in Ravenswood, W. Va., Mr. Rardin came to this area in 1917. Owner-operator of Rardin Excavating, he continued the family business which was started by his father. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the West Indies, was a member of the Chesty Puller Detatchment of the Marine Corps League, and had served as state commandant. Other memberships included VFW Ralph Huff Post and the Ohio Contractors Association, where he was named to the Ohio Contractors Hall of Fame. Mr. Rardin belonged to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by wife, Cecilia, he is survived by son and daughter-in- law, Bernard and Roberta of Akron; sister, Pearl Beal of Deerfield brothers, Jack of Stow and Robert of Hudson; grandchildren, Rev. Thomas Rardin, Clarissa Cleland, Gerald and Robert Rardin and Elizabeth Fisher; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. ThursDAY, at the Dunn-Quigley-Ciriello & Carr FALLS Chapel (Portage Trail at Eighth Street) Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. FriDAY, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
