Hunt Father's Birth Place: WV Informant: Jason Taylor, Spencer Cause: TB In memory of Mrs. Malinda Jane Taylor Malinda Jane Taylor, daughter of Oliver B. and Almeda Hunt was born December 24, 1859, and died September 3, 1923. She was united in Marriage with John E. Taylor April 3, 1879. To this union were born nine children, two of whom died in infancey and one, Austin Taylor, died in 1910, leaving one son. She is survied by two sons and four daughters, Jason Taylor, of Hammack, Ray Taylor, of Spencer, daughters Mrs. S. C. Sinnett, Mrs. R. D. Hersman and Mrs. Doyle Valentine, of Spencer, Route 2, and Mrs. Lona Wiggins, of Follansbee, W. Va. She was converted and united with the Baptist church when but fifteen years of age and the writer has never known anyone in whose life and character Christianity was more closely woven. To her "Faith was the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen," and so in the midst of discouragement, sorrow and disease that would have crushed the spitit of most, she always appeared bright and cheerful. Her first thought was always of service and not of the reward; it was enough for her to know that she was needed. When in April, 1917, her country called for men she bade her youngest son God speed and when a son-in-law wished to go she immediately offed to go help take care of his family while he was away, and where any were sick or needy they could be sure of her presence. Her children were left under her sole care while they were but small, and she had a hard struggle to rear and educate them; but she lived to see them all useful and respected citizens, with home of their own, in which she was the most loved and welcome visitor. During her last illness, which was long and lingering, she was cheerful and resigned. She loved life and could have like to remain with her children, but she did not dread death; she knew that it was but a gateway to greater life. In the death of Mrs. Taylor the community has indeed suffered a loss. Such lives are altogether too scare, and the world can ill afford to lose the inspiration of their example. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. P. Lowe at the Round Knob church and she was laid to rest in the little cemetery on the hill, there to await the final summons. Green grows the turf above thee, Friend of my by-gone days; None saw thee but to love thee, Non knew thee but to praise. Elsie Cook has her DOB as 12/28/1859.

Oliver and Almeda were members of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Almeda was born in 1838, the first white child in Harper district of Roane Co., West Virginia. She was said to be the prettiest girl in the County.
