      Uriah Gandee, sr. Born in Philadelphia, PA, 1753. Enlisted May 1, 1876, under Captain Thomas Forrest , Proctor's Battalion PA Artillary. names Colonels Proctor and Marxhall and General Washington, Lafayette and Wayne. Was at the battles of Trenton, Princeton, Germantown, and Brandywine.
      Applied for a pension in Jackson county, Nov 18, 1835. Claim supported by John McKown and Phillip Hall. Claim rejected in report which included the following names: James Maze, Samuel Tanner, Charles Stewart, Bazzel Wright, Elijah Runion, Zachariah Rhodes, and Thomas Hughes. Listed in Mason county tax lists for 1807 thru 1814. and censuses of 1810 and 1820. Owned 100 acres on Left Fork of Reedy in 1832, reference Jackson county land books. Village of Gandeeville, Roane County, named for him. Married Massa, daughter of Jesse Hughes, Sr, in Wood county, July 30, 1806.
