Revolutionary Soldiers
Jesse Carpenter. Applied in Lewis county for pension on the grounds of two years service in the Recolution under a Captain Turnk. Certificate issued in 1833 but later dropped. Listed in Personal Property tax list for Jackson county in 1831. Came to Kanawha county about 1801, when he is listed on Tax Lists for that year. From Kanawha he moved to Meigs county, OH, where his son, Thomas, was born in 1796. Later moved to Parcement Valley and later to present Roane county. His son Thomas, died Oct 5, 1882, on Charles Fork of Spring Creel. Thomas married Sarah, a sister of John Wright in 1823.
