Jackson County, W.Va. — GAY – Carl Ray Price, 78, of Gay, went to be with the lord following on February 23, 2011 following a brief illness.
He was born on July 4, 1932 in Jackson County, son of the late Willie and Josephine Price. He retired from the City of Ripley in 1995 and was well known in the area for buying and selling produce during the summer and fall seasons.
He is survived by his wife, Cathleen, and sons Larry Price and Ronnie (Tonya) Price, all of Gay; Sister, Dorthlean Durst of Millwood. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Alex Price of Denver, Colorado, Tyler, Trevor and Trenton Price, all of Gay, Chris Holcomb of Missouri and Brittany Holcomb of Ravenswood. He was expecting his first great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, a son, Ricky Price of Gay; daughter in law Crystal Price of Gay; sisters Ada Anderson of Sandyville, Bessie Price, Faye Westfall, Mamie Price, Corda Westfall and Elva Price, all of Gay; Icie Randolph of Charleston and brother Holley Price of Gay, preceded him in death.
A celebration of his new life was held at Waybright Funeral Home, Saturday, February 26 at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Fields officiating. Interment was at the Tolley family cemetery, Gay.
Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home.
