  Notes	The Times Record October 14, 2010 Ruth Elaine Sheppard Ruth Elaine Rhodes Sheppard, 94, of Staunton, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at Augusta Health, Fishersville, Va. She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late William B. “Bod” and Dolah B. Rhodes. She was married in 1934. She and her husband owned and operated Rhodes Hatchery in Petersburg for more than 25 years. Following the sale of their hatchery, they worked for Griffith Volkswagen in Clarksburg. She was a lifetime member of Petersburg Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 146 and a W.Va. 4-H All Star. Following retirement, she and her husband traveled between Okeechobee, Fla., and Reedy frequently. For the past few years, she lived with her daughter in Staunton. She was member of Verona United Methodist Church in Verona, Va. She was a Christian. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Huffman; a brother, Daniel L. Rhodes; two granddaughters, a great-grandson, three nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Wilson; a brother, Jack Rhodes; and an infant daughter, Roberta Neale. Service will be Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Eventide Cemetery. Another memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. at Verona United Methodist Church, with Rev. Matthew Bates officiating. Memorial donations may be made to W.Va. 4-H Club Foundation Inc., 613 Knopp Hall, PO Box 6031, Morgantown WV 26506 or Verona United Methodist Church Food Pantry, PO Box 406, Verona VA 24482. Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes & Crematory are in charge of Staunton arrangements and Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
