Jerusha Scarberry
Jerusha Scarberry, 102, of Ripley, passed away Jan. 9, 2006, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley.
She was born Jan. 22, 1903, at Roane County, a daughter of the late Robert H. and Nora Coon Stalnaker. She was a homemaker and taught school in her early years in Kanawha and Jackson Counties. She was a member of the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Charles Rogers Scarberry and his wife, Joan, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a sister, Elsie Higley of Bidwell, Ohio; one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and three great great-grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Scarberry; sons, Orland, Denzel, and Robert Scarberry; a daughter, Grace Randolph; seven brothers; and four sisters.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastor Shannon Skeen officiating. Burial will be in the Fairplain Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
