  Notes	Jo Ann Litton, 65, of Cross Lanes, died Aug. 28, 2001, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Gay, W.Va., to Rufus Garland and Lavinia Opal Litton. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1954, Glenville College in 1959, and earned a masters in education from West Virginia University in 1962. She taught elementary school in the Kanawha County Public School System for the first 10 years of her career. She then became a general supervisor at the Kanawha County Board of Education Central Office. She held various positions with the board, and in 1984 was made director of elementary schools, a position she held until her retirement in 1989. After retiring from the Kanawha County School System, she returned to the classroom and taught elementary school for another 10 years at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School. An active member in church and community throughout her life, Jo Ann was a member of The Baptist Temple for many years and joined Cross Lanes United Methodist Church upon moving to Cross Lanes. She also belonged to Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Delta Kappa, and other professional organizations. She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Garland Litton. She is survived by her mother, Lavinia Opal Casto Litton of Cross Lanes; her sister, Lavonne Litton Sanders of Birmingham, Ala.; two nieces, Anne Sanders Rand of Hamilton, Bermuda and Elizabeth Sanders Lopez of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandnieces, among other family and friends. Her unselfish and caring nature will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Dr. Dennis Johnson and the Rev. Aslam Barkat officiating. Graveside service and burial will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Fairplain Cemetery, Fairplain, W.Va., with the Rev. Orville Walker officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans.
