F R Higley 29th Victim of 'Bridge
'
The McCoy Funeral Home of Vinton will announce services for Forrest Raymond Higley, 26, Rt. 2 Bidwell, whose body was recovered from a James Merry Co. truck after it was pulled from the Ohio River late Wednesday night.
Higley's body was the 29th to be recovered and identified in Friday night's collapse of the Silver Bridge at Kanauga.
Born Jan. 21, 1941, at St. Albans, W.Va., he was the son of Basil K and Elsie Stonaker, who reside on Rt. 2 Bidwell. The family came to Gallia County in 1953.
A veteran of 13 months in Vietnam, Higley was discharged in March 1967. He was a 1958 graduate of North Gallia High School.
He is survived by his widow, the former Marty Ervin, and her son, Robbie Ervin, by a previous marriage; two sisters, Mrs. Joyce Robie, Rt. 1 Bidwell, and Loma Higley, Rt. Bidwell, and a brother, Kenneth Higley, Rt. 2 Bidwell.
Raymond was one of the 46 people who died when the Silver Bridge collapsed on 12/15/1967.
