Dorothy Lee (Litton) Hatcher, 84, Vienna, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, at her home from complications from an earlier fall.
She was born on November 22, 1931, at Belle Grove in Jackson County to Margaret (McQueen) Litton and C.B. Litton. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1951. She married Oval B. (Joe) Hatcher on August 15, 1951. She was a homemaker and mother. After Joe was called into the ministry, she assisted him as a pastor's wife. Together they served United Methodist congregations for 29 years. These included churches on the Ripley, Smithville, Clifton, Belleville, Glenville, and Ellenboro Circuits in West Virginia and Swanton Charge in Garrett County, Md. In 1997, the couple retired to Vienna and were active members of Saint Paul's and Wayside United Methodist Churches.
Dorothy was preceded in death by Joe on June 4, 2014.
She is survived by her son, Joey B. Hatcher and wife, Jodi Perras of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandson, Joseph M. Hatcher, also of Indianapolis; son-in-law, Jeffrey Reed of Vienna; and granddaughter, Jennifer Reed of Vienna.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Allen Hatcher; one daughter, Carrie Lea Reed; and three sisters, Bea, Iva and Eloise and one brother Willis.
Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 21, at Wayside United Methodist Church, with Rev. Greg Markin officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., Friday, October 21, at Jackson Memorial Gardens in Cottageville, W.Va. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, October 20, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and one hour prior to the service, Friday, October 21, at Wayside UMC.
