Raymond R. Skinner, 93, of Gay, W.Va., passed away suddenly at his home on Dec. 9, 2009.
Raymond was born Nov. 27, 1916 at Gay, a son of the late Rufus and Margie Parsons Skinner.
He was a member of the 3 C's (Civil Service Navy) from 1945-1946 where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He retired from Star Painting Company and was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church at Gay. He was active in the community of Gay and served as a former President of the Gay Community Center. He also served as a Jackson County Commissioner and was a former Board Member of the Parsons Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Maxine Skinner; a grandson, Richard Lee Skinner
He is survived by his children, a daughter Margaret Lee Skinner Rhodes and her husband Elmer of Gay; his sons, Raymond "Ray" Skinner Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hampton, Va. and Howard Skinner and his wife Dorma of Gay; his grandchildren, Lorelei Pike and her husband Steve of Madison, Va., Loutricia Johnson of Hampton, Va., Sonia Raines and her husband Chuck of Ripley, Vernon Skinner and his wife Laurie of Faluda, Va. and Pastor Dee Rhodes and his wife Lois of Ripley; great-grandchildren, Lucas Casto and his wife Zena of Ripley, Chrystal Pranke and her husband Bradley of Va., Kayla Raines of Ripley, Joshua Pike of Madison, Va., Courtney Skinner of Flauda, Va., Andrea Pike of Madison, Va., and Sara Johnson of Hampton, Va. He is also survived by four great-great- grandchildren as well as many good friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Holly Hoover officiating. Burial will be in the Parsons Cemetery, Gay. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
