- John D. Fields, 74, of Walton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 18, 2012. He fought a courageous battle with multiple health issues, and was strong to the end of this earthly life.
John was born February 11, 1938, to the late Harry C. and Virgie M. Skeen Fields. He was retired as owner/operator of Fields Auto Body Shop in Walton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a lifelong resident of Walton.
John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Tharon Abbott Fields; daughter, Gail Williams (Jeff) of Deer Park, Texas; sons, Greg (Ericka), Kevin and Shawn (Melissa) Fields, all of Walton; grandchildren, Kaela Fields, Emily and Cade Williams, Tyler Nichols and Erica, Clayton and Kaitlyn Fields; great-grandchildren, Nyomi Guadalupe and Kaliya Louis; sister, Joretta Taylor of Scott Depot; and brothers, Alan of Orlando, Fla, and James of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Fields; and a brother, Thomas Fields.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Jerry Board officiating. Burial will be in Droddy-Canterbury Cemetery, Walton. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
