This deed made this 17 day of September 1897 by and between George W. Tolley and Tressey E. Tolley his wife of the county of Roane and State of West Virginia of the first part and Sarah Rhodes of the County of Jackson and State of West Virginia party of the second part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $100.00 in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. The said G. W. Tolley and Tressy E. Tolley his wife, does Grant unto Sarah Rhodes, a certain tract of land lying and being in the District of Washington and county of Jackson and State of West Virginia on the waters of Elk Fork and bounded and described as follows. Beginning at a W oak corner of D. Harold thence with said line to rufrun 36 poles to Ironwood corner Then up ruffian to Elm 53 [poles Then with E. H. Rader line 52 1/6 poles to the beginning. The part of the first part conveys by General warranty to the part of the second part to her heirs and assigns to have and to hold forever.

This deed made this 9th day of March, 1909, between Sarah Rhodes of the County of Jackson West Virginia of the first part and J. M. Rhodes of the same County and State of the second part, withnessseth: That for and in consideration of One Dollar, cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and the further consideration of the natural love and affection the first party's for the second party, the said J. M. Rhodes being one of the children of said Sarah Rhodes does hereby bargain, sell, grant and convey, with covenants of general warranty to the said J. M. Rhodes all that certain lot, tract or parcel of land lying situate and being in the District of Washington, said county, on the waters of Elk Fork and bounded as follows; Beginning at a White oak, corner to D. Harpold, thence with said line to Ruff run 36 poles to an Ironwood; thence to Ruff run to an Elm, 53 poles; thence with E. H. Rader’s line 52 1?2 poles to the place of beginning containing by estimation 20 acres and being the same land conveyed to the said Sarah Rhodes by George W. Tolley and wife, by deed dated September 17, 1894; but the part of the first part hereby reserves to herself a life estate in and To have and to hold the said lot, tract and or parcel of land unto the said J. M. Rhodes, his heirs and assigns forever with the covenants afresaid.
