Frederic Hood Rhodes
Frederic Hood Rhodes, 72, of Cottageville passed away Oct. 12, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born Jan. 14, 1935, in Cottageville, a son of the late John H. Sr. and Helen E. Hood Rhodes.
He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School and the Pennsylvania Institute of Criminology. He also completed an extension course at Marshall University in Police Officer's Training. He served four years in the United States Air Force as a member of the 81st Fighter Bomber Squadron in Bentwaters, England. From 1965 through 1968, he was Chief Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County. Before retirement, he was employed at the State Department in Charleston. He was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife, Rosario R. Regla Rhodes of Cottageville; sister, Patricia Prowse of Cottageville; two stepchildren, Beverly Lively of Ravenswood, and William Walters of Florida; niece, Jennifer Parker of Washington, W.Va.; and nephew, John Patrick Rhodes of Cottageville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Lawill Rhodes and John H. Rhodes Jr.
Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
