Milford Casto, an aviator radar operator with the Marines, is the husband of the former Marie Kessel, who with a small daughter, is with her parents near Ripley, He is stationed in North Carolina. S/Sgt. Dale C Casto has been in the service more than three years and is in England. Cpl. Arthur Casto is with the Army Air Corps in Texas, and Cpl. Bernard Casto, also with the Army Air Corps, is in Florida. All are graduates of the Ripley High School, except Bernard who was graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston. (Friday, Sept. 15, 1944 Charleston Gazette - (Jan/5/2010) Arthur Blair Casto, 87, of Anderson, S.C., died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 12, 1922, in Rockcastle and was the son of the late Okey H. and Elva Battrell Casto. Mr. Casto attended Bethel Grade School, Rockcastle, high school in Ripley, and Montana State University (Air Force navigation) and Indiana Institute of Technology (mechanical engineering), Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the 20th Air Force in the South Pacific, Guam and Saipan. Mr. Casto was employed by Union Carbide for 22 years and Stauffer Chemical Company for 12 years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Parsons and E. Marie Casto; and three brothers, Milford, Dale and Bernard Casto. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Tolley Casto; two sons, Jeffrey K. Casto of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stephen B. Casto and his wife, Anna R., of Anderson, S.C.; two grandchildren, Christopher B. Casto of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda M. Casto of Palo Alto, Calif.; and a sister, Ardella Casto of Cross Lanes. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Richard DeQuasi officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar. Friends may call at Keller Funeral Home, from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 301 RHL Blvd., South Charleston, WV 25309, or Trinity United Methodist Church, 615 Viand St., Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
