Veldra W. Harpold, 20 year old farmer of Fairplain, failed to rally from a surgical operation at a Parkersburg hospital on Monday afternoon and his death was a shock to the family and friends of the young man. He had been in poor health for some time. He was a member of the graduating class of Ripley High School of 1944 and had been engaged in dairy farming with his father. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed pending the arrival of a brother who was in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Casto Harpold; his father, George W. Harpold of Fairplain; two brothers, Wayne of Charleston and Warren of Florida; five sisters,Phyllis Harpold of Charleston, Mrs. Velma Seymour of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Bernice Fisher of Ripley, Mrs. Eunice Fisher of the Phillipines Islands, and Mrs. Hazel Casto of Given.
