Woodrow C. Harper
Woodrow C. “Woody” Harper, 81, of Harmony died April 15, 2008, at home.
He was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Roane County, a son of the late Lewis G. and Myrtle M. Thomas Harper. He was formerly employed at the Spencer State Hospital; was the owner of Harper's General Store in Harmony; and was a big WVU Mountaineer fan. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra Kight of Harmony; two sons, Woodrow “Butch” Harper of Burbank, Ohio, and Travis Harper of Harmony; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alma Grace Harper in 2006.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel McClung and the Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville. Visiting hours are Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
