MELBOURNE, FL - William E. Rhodes, 81, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Ripley, passed away Friday, June 15, 2007, at Holmes Regional Med ical Center.
He was born in Charleston and relocated to Brevard County, FL, in 1951 from Ripley. He owned Bill Rhodes and Sons Shell and Auto Service and was a World War II veteran of Merchant Marines and a Korean War veteran as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of South Brevard.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Billie Marilyn Rhodes of Melbourne; sons Marc Rhodes and wife Janna of West Melbourne, Jeff Rhodes and wife Karen of West Melbourne, Dusty Rhodes, Jr. and wife Cindy of West Melbourne, Rusty Rhodes and wife Diana of Ovieda, FL and Scott Rhodes and wife Sally of West Melbourne; brother Bud Lanham, Jr. of Texas; sister Sharon Turley and husband Bill of Texas; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bob Rhodes and sister Kate Beamer.
Services will be held today, June 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of South Brevard. Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
