He was a retired funeral director and one of the county's best known Sunday school workers. At one time he was president of the Braxton County Council of Religious Education and also served as president in Kanawha district. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church. He had also been active in Republican county politics. Mr. Veith was born at Falls Mill. His father, John Veith, was born in Germany and his mother, Margaret Jones Veith, was a native of Bath county, Virginia. He was married to Samantha Alice Cobb, who survives. Surviving children are G. E. Veith, P. W. Veith, Audie Veith and Miss Pearl Veith, of Falls Mill; Donald Veith of Mannington, and Mrs. Carrie Kraft, of Weston, and three grand-children, Audrey, Sammy and Audie Kraft, of Weston. The following brothers and sister also survive: Anton Veith, Frank Veith, and Mrs. Elsina Casto, of Falls Mill, John Veith, of Sago, and Mrs. Mary Casto, of Wheeler. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, with the Rev. Phillips and Rev. Nay in charge and interment was in the Highwood cemetery, near Falls Mill. Berry and Son, of Sutton were in charge of the funeral.
