Virginia Lois Shockey
Virginia Lois Spears Shockey, 82, of Sandyville, W.Va., died Jan. 15, 2005, as a result of an extended illness.
She was born May 13, 1922, in Jackson County, W.Va., to the late Benjamin H. Spears and Ruby Mae Walters Spears. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Harley; daughter, Patricia; and sisters, Emma Kibble and Vera Murray.
She was a housewife and had been a member of the Independence United Methodist Church for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid Society, serving in different offices. Besides being a loving housewife and mother, she assisted her husband, Harley, in the family business, Shockey's Service and Supply, for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Lesley Shockey and his wife, Naomi, of Sandyville, W.Va., David Shockey and his wife, Glenda, of Sandyville, and Gene Shockey and his wife, Rhonda, of Ravenswood, W.Va.; one brother, Vairl C. "Jack" Spears and his wife, Louella, of Sandyville; four grandsons, Michael Shockey, Keith Shockey, Charles Shockey and Steven Shockey; four granddaughters, Teresa Kessell, Kimberly Crist, Lois Clendenin and Melissa Smith; seven great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at Roush Funeral Home Chapel, Ravenswood with the Rev. Steven Rhoades officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.
