Thomas J. Chase
T.J. Chase was born July 2, 1860, on a farm near Harrisonville, Ohio, and
was reared on the same farm, working during summer and going to school
during winter. He was married March 17, 1879 to R. Haning's eldest daughter
after which he removed to Pageville, same township, where he has resided
ever since, following the vocation of farming and dealing in wool and stock
of all kinds, and in the last five years has handled more wool than any man
in Meigs County. He has also taught vocal music over most of Meigs and
Athens counties. He has filled the office of treasurer of Scipio township
four years, also assessor of Pageville precenct one year. He belongs to a
family of life-long Republicans, none of whom have ever asked for a county
office. He now asks the Republicans for their support for Sheriff of Meigs
county, and, if elected, will try to fill the office honestly and honorable,
but if defeated will still be what he has always been, a Republican.
