Herman G. Casto, 87, of New Cumberland, WV passed away peacefully at home Thursday, August 2, surrounded by family and close friends.
He was born in New Cumberland, WV on June 3, 1931, and was the son of the late Walter and Virginia (Westfall) Casto.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Ann Casto and Constance L. (Casto) Chambers; two sisters, Edith (Casto) Kerns and Marie (Casto) Lupardus; and four brothers, Wilson, Charles, John and Ralph Casto.
Herman served in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a crane operator for National Steel Corporation. His hobbies were flea-marketing, auctions, farming and spending time with his two dogs.
Herman will be sadly missed by his wife of 66 years, Jacqueline L. (Deemer) Casto; his daughter, Cynthia S. (Casto) Skerbetz; his two sons, Herman G. Casto Jr. (fiancee Julie Irwin), and David (Paula) Casto.
His grandchildren, Dana and Cory (April) Skerbetz, Jessica (Matt) Godwin, Nicole (Jason) Ennis, Cody (Raylynn) Casto, Michaela Casto (fiance Kyle Heinzman), and Joe Dee Barganski (Julie Barganski).
His great-grandchildren, Isabella and Joey Barganski, Riley and Lyla Casto, Landon and Brayden Godwin, Payton DiMarco, Joshlynn Doll, Josiah and Jameson Ennis; and his faithful canine companions, Katie and Sam.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m., at the Nixon Funeral Home, New Cumberland, WV, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, New Manchester, WV. Military services will be conducted the American Legion Post 121-VFW Post 6450 Honor Guard.
