Howard G. Chancey
RIPLEY - Howard G. Chancey, 71, of Ripley died Feb. 6, 1999, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a short illness.
He was a boilermaker with union Local 667, Charleston, and served as the union's business agent. He was a graduate of Ripley High School and a member of Masonic Lodge 16, Ripley, Beni Kedem Temple and Scottish Rite. He was a former member of the state Republican Executive Committee and attended Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley.
He was past president of Ripley High School Athletic Boosters and instrumental in the construction of many athletic fields, having had a sports facility building named in his honor.
Surviving: wife, Delores Casto Chancey; sons, Steven, Dr. Michael and David, all of Ripley; daughter, Phyllis Matheny of Ripley; brother, William T. of Wilmington, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McCoys Conference Center, Miller Drive, Ripley, with the Rev. Charles Hicks and the Rev. Hubert Groves officiating. Burial, with graveside rites conducted by Masonic Lodge 16, Ripley, will be in Fairplain Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the conference center.
