Paul Donald Reed
Paul Donald Reed, 76, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Nov. 2, 2006, due to an extended illness.
He was the youngest son of the late Walter and Francis Hart Reed and was born on Nov. 10, 1929. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and companion of 53 years, Belva Jean Randolph Reed. Together, they raised five children.
He was the dearly loved father of Debra Reed (Wesley) Knopp, Belinda Reed (Bill) Woofter, Donna Reed (Denny) Bannister, Timothy (Betty) Reed and Barbara Reed (Calvin) Donohew.
He was the proud grandpa of nine grandchildren, Staci Hudson, Traci Hudson, Lori Woofter (Zac) Zasloff, Megan Reed (Gil) Bond, Matthew Knopp, Kristi Donohew (Jason) Shaver, Gwendolyn Reed (Matthew) Richards, Cassie Donohew (Billy) Haile and Susan Knopp. He also had two great-grandsons, Aidan Hudson and Conner Bond.
He was the brother of Robert R. Reed, William G. Reed and Dorothy C. Reynolds.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter, and one sister, Ruth Elizabeth.
He was a devout Christian and was quick to tell everyone what the Lord had done for him and his family. He attended Mount Zion Community Church. He saw a lesson in every creation of God and how it related to his life.
A Korean War veteran, serving in the Navy aboard the USS Randall, he was a lifelong farmer and an avid hunter and trapper who looked forward to each new season's hunting adventures.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, those he had known for years and the new ones he met during his illness. His engaging personality endeared him to many. He longed to be reunited with his sweetheart. His labors here finished, God has granted that request.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with Pastors Charles Fouty and Homer Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Gay.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
