Richard Rhodes Sr.
Richard Rhodes Sr., 80, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, in Springfield Regional Medical Center-East High Campus. He was born the youngest of 13 children on May 1, 1930, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of Aaron W. and Virginia Wolf Rhodes.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and served our country proudly during the Korean War. He enjoyed working in his garage, watching different sporting events and was an avid NASCAR fan. Richard will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Ruth Ann Daniels Rhodes; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jr. (Jodi) Rhodes of Springfield, Ohio; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jeanne (Brian) Barber of Huntington Beach, Calif., Linda Teel and Sandy McClure, both of Charleston, W.Va.; one sister, Maxine Wyer; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 1p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010, in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home & Crematory, Springfield, Ohio, with military honors by the United States Army to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Vernon Murphy Baseball League, P.O. Box 1602, Springfield, Ohio 45501.
