SPENCER - Charles P. Schreckengost, 68, and Rowena A. Schoolcraft Schreckengost, 69, of Spencer died Feb. 19, 1999, from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 33 near Spencer, according to State Police. Their car apparently veered to the right and hit a guardrail, then went into the westbound lane and struck a telephone pole. They died at the scene.
Mr. Schreckengost was retired from Spencer State Hospital. Mrs. Schreckengost was a homemaker and also retired from Spencer State Hospital. They attended Gandee Chapel Church, Spencer.
Surviving: daughter, Ann Tucker of Spencer; son, Charles Henry Schreckengost of Spencer; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by: sisters, Marjorie Tolley, Michie Seabolt and Emma Grace Runnion, all of Spencer, Hallie Clarkson of Clover; brother, Elmer Schreckengost of Spencer.
She is also survived by: sisters, Ruby Slack of Charleston, Rosa Casto of Clendenin, Vesta Feazelle of Dunbar; brothers, Raymond Schoolcraft of Walton, Russell Schoolcraft of Clover.
Joint service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
