      Jean E. Kerns - Charleston Daily Mail - (Sep/1/2004)
Jean E. Kerns, 80, went peacefully to be with her Lord Aug. 30, 2004, at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness.

Mrs. Kerns was the daughter of the late Clida and Harry Dennis Helmick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D. Albert Kerns Sr.; her daughter, Tammy D. Kerns; and her beloved four sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her sons, David "Red", Dennis "Champ", Larry, Billy, Donnie and Pat Kerns; her daughters, Clida Ann Rose, Peggy L. Shaffer and Deborah J. Hager. Her 26 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter will truly miss her, but she will be forever in our hearts and minds.

At our mother's request, her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Floral Hills Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Brian King officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston.

Jean's family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Mallinath Kayi, Dr. S. Ashraf and the staff of St. Francis Hospital and Hubbard Hospice House for the care and treatment given to our mother and grandmother. A very special thanks goes to the staff at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center. The Lord will truly bless you all for your kindness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311, in memory of Jean and Tammy Kerns.

Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. W, Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
