Dorothy Ellen Johns
Dorothy Ellen Morris Johns, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 7, 2005, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Anderson.
Born on March 4, 1917, at Gay, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Orlie Morris. Her husband, Ray Johns, also preceded her in death in 1979, as well as twin sons, Gary and Larry in 1944. Also, sister, Glenva Randolph, and brother, Keith Morris, preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, also attending Ripley Baptist Temple. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Anderson of Ripley; grandsons and their wives, Rick and Tara Anderson of Ripley and Randal and Jackie Anderson of Louisa, Ky.; great-granddaughters and their husbands, Brandi and Todd Thompson and Amanda and Luke Salmons, all of Huntington, and Lori Anderson of Louisa, Ky.; great-grandson, Bobby Ray Anderson of Louisa, Ky.; great-great-grandson, Carson Andrew Thompson of Huntington; brothers, Edsel (Bernadine) Morris of Ripley, Edgar Morris of Dunbar, Kenneth (Lulabelle) Morris of Huntington and Ayward (Betty) Morris of Parkersburg; and sisters, Ruth (Raymond) Skinner of Gay, Ruby Ferguson of Gallipolis, Ohio, Janet (Cliff) Lones of Muskegon, Mich., and Eleanor (Ralph) Myers of Dunbar.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at Ripley Baptist Temple. Burial will follow in Evans Cemetery, Gay.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley.
