Ayward E. Morris
PARKERSBURG - Ayward "Ace" E. Morris, 79, of Parkersburg, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008, at his residence.
He was born October 21, 1928, at Gay, a son of the late Virgil and Orlie Rhodes Morris.
He served in the military during the Korean Conflict and returned to Detroit, MI, to work in the auto industry. After moving to Parkersburg, he drove for the City Bus Lines. He then retired from G.E. Plastics and had been working with his daughter at Sweet-N-Treats. He has been a board member for the Wood County Community Credit Union.
He was a member of the North End Church of Christ where he helped his wife in second grade Bible class and served as an usher. One of his greatest joys in life was helping care for his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Betty Morris; sons Ayward Morris, Jr. and wife Sherry of Parkersburg and Bob Morris and wife Melinda of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Vickie Shuman and husband Rod of Vienna; grandchildren Spike Shuman, Shelley Shuman, Brad Morris, Bobby Morris and wife Nikki, Andy Morris, Ali Morris, Brittney Morris and Bryce Morris; step-grandchildren Ben and Daniel Palmer; brothers Edsel Morris and wife Bernadine, Edgar Morris and Kenneth Morris and wife Lulubelle and sisters Ruby Ferguson, Ruth Skinner and husband Raymond, Janet Lones and husband Cliff and Eleanor Myers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Keith Morris and sisters Glenvie Randolph and Dorothy Johns.
Services were held Monday, February 18, 2008, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Wirt Cook and Steven Haguewood officiating. Burial followed at Parsons Cemetery, Gay.
