      Marianne Grimes Baughman, 78, of Dallas, Ore., died March 9, 2011.

      She was born Dec. 16, 1932 to Dale and Ada Grimes in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from South High School in Columbus and attended the Cincinnati Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio. From 1956 to 1989, she lived in Nigeria, West Africa, where she and her late husband, Don, served as Church of Christ missionaries. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Ada Grimes; husband, Don Baughman; daughter, Ruth Carol Baughman; sisters, Doris Griffin and Marthalee Erfurt; brothers, Drenen Grimes, Jack Grimes and Jim Grimes; and sister-in-law, Edna Ann Smith.

      She is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Sonny) Catron of New Castle, Ind., Lisa Baughman of New Castle, and Jane (Dennis) Bartoldus of Newport, Ore.; sister, Carol (George) Scarbrough of Midlothian, Texas; sisters-in-law, Rita Grimes of Columbus, Ohio and Betty (Herman) Hafey of Columbus, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Dick (Pat) Baughman of Vandalia, Ohio and Walter Smith; five grandchildren, Kristen (Wes) Champion-Terrell of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Kendra (Kris) Champion-McAloon of Indianapolis, Ind., Paul Champion of Indianapolis, Andrew Bartoldus of Newport and Stuart Bartoldus of Newport; and two great-grandchildren.

      A celebration of life was held March 14 at the First Christian Church in Newport, officiated by Derek Helt, Jim Mcauley and Walter Smith. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 809 SE Second St., Newport, OR 97365 to benefit mission work in Nigeria.

      His wife was Ada Blackwell.  they married in Meigs co, Ohio. They married 1/7/1909 in Meigs co, OH.  Dale was born 1/25/1886, Ada was born 5/10/1888. He and his brother J. C. came to Columbus for work in the early 1900.  They both raised their children here and E. Dale d. 5/20/1942 and Ada d.2/12/1948. They both are buried in Obetz cemetary in Obetz ohio.
