    • CLARENCE OSBORNE BOOTH JR., 81 years old, of Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2005. He was born October 5, 1923, the youngest son of the late Clarence and Sarah O’Neil Booth of Bancroft, W.Va. He was the last surviving member of his family, preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. At the age of 15 he went to work on a sternwheeler. He later joined the U.S. Navy and served our country during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed by Sears & Roebuck and until his retirement with C. J. Hughes Construction. He recently worked for Terradon as an inspector. He was a gifted artist and loved to paint pictures of the old sternwheelers he saw as a young man. He was a member of Barboursville’s Minerva Lodge #13 AF&AM. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston, W.Va. He attended Greenbottom Missionary Baptist Church and loved to share his faith in God with others. He is survived by his beloved family, his wife of 54 years, Betty Strickland Booth; his daughter, Kathy Booth Short, of Barboursville; his grandchildren, Candie Short Clatworthy and her husband Jerry of Huntington, Joe Short and Lindsey Childers of Lesage; and his great-granddaughter whom he cherished, Madison Short also of Lesage. He leaves behind many friends, nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle June." He was an inspiration to us all and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday July 7, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville by his great -nephew Pastor Jeff Arthur. Entombment will be in Haven of Rest Cemetery in Hometown, W.Va. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville.
