Ronald A. "Butch" Harrison departed this life on July 22, 2008, at CAMC General Hospital after a short illness. Butch was born on Feb. 18, 1925, and was a lifelong resident of Goldtown.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlene Harrison; son, Lee Harrison and wife, Brenda; daughter, Carolyn Sue Hart and husband, Tom Hart; grandchildren, Christopher Hart, Joshua Hart, Ginger Barnes, Brad Harrison and Gale Sayre; and great-grandchildren, Shaylee Barnes, Zachary Hart and Olivia Hart.
Butch proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the Destroyer USS Willmarth DE 638. He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon 5 stars, American Theater Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Butch was a devoted member of Fisher Memorial Church, Goldtown, where he served as a trustee and supervised maintenance and construction of their properties.
He retired from Union Carbide, Institute Plant after 30 years of service.
Funeral service and visitation will be held at Fisher Memorial Church, Goldtown. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Phillips officiating.
